CCI AI Horizons Fronteridades Cohort Kicks Off at the Confluencenter Casita
TUCSON, Ariz. – On Monday, February 16, 2026 Confluencenter held the first meeting with the CCI AI Horizons Fronteridades Cohort. Students gathered at the Confluencenter casita to meet each other, connect as a cohort, and begin shaping the work they will carry forward through the program.
The meeting offered an early look at the range of projects represented in the cohort, as students shared what they are exploring and the questions they are bringing to their research. During an icebreaker activity students reflected on AI’s current role in education, transdisciplinary research and the borderlands.
Students also learned more about the CCI AI Horizons program and its connection to the University of Arizona Strategic Imperatives and the Fronteridades mission. The conversation highlighted how this cohort fits into a broader effort to support student-led work that is thoughtful, interdisciplinary, and grounded in real-world concerns.
The room was full of curiosity, excitement, and momentum. As the cohort continues meeting and developing their projects, we look forward to sharing more about each student’s work and the ideas emerging from this group.
Stay tuned for upcoming spotlights on each project.
